Baptism is one of the two ordinances that Jesus taught all of his followers to practice. Baptism at The Journey Church is demonstrated in the way it was carried out in the New Testament, by full immersion of the person being baptized. We like to describe baptism as an "outward expression of an inward commitment". It is our way of declaring to our friends, family, and church family that we have decided to follow Jesus and we that we are not ashamed for anyone to know that we have made this decision. A baptism ceremony is very much like a marriage ceremony. Just as a couple invite their closest friends and family members to observe the vows of commitment to one another, we do the same whenever we experience the act of baptism. Just as the rings exchanged symbolize perpetual love without end, the immersion into the water is a picture that the person we were before Jesus has passed away and as we are raised out of the water, it is a symbol of the new person we are in Jesus Christ. We schedule baptism and different times of the year. Sometimes the ceremony is held at the beach and other times we have our baptisms in the midst of our worship service in our local church site. If you would like more information about baptism, we will be happy to email to you a packet of information that we have prepared for this very purpose. Please click on the link below.
